Wireless Broadband Internet to southeast Utah

Wireless Broadband Internet recently came to southeast Utah when Royce Electronics of Moab completed a new microwave system enabling broadband Internet access into Grand and San Juan counties. The digital signals come from access to the World Wide Web provided by Beehive Telephone’s Gigabit pipeline from Salt Lake City. It connects to Beehive’s facilities 70 miles west in Garfield County via Royce’s relay station on Abajo Peak. Both Royce and Beehive personnel have been racing to get major construction of the system done before winter snow makes it difficult. Royce hopes to have the service available in Moab soon and then extend the high-speed internet service to Monticello. For further information call the Radio Shack, Royce’s Electronics store in Moab, at 435-259-6630. The system will be wireless to homes; no telephone lines or cable TV connection is needed. A small box mounted on the house will point to one of a wireless access point in the city. Courtesy photo
