Zlotoff, Carling win fast, competitive Monticello Pioneer Day 5K race

Phinees Zlotoff cruised into Monticello from Gilbert, AZ, this past Saturday, July 25, pacing the field of 79 to win the annual Blue Mountain Pioneer Day 5K, crossing the line in a blistering 17:42.7.
Zlotoff’s time was nearly a minute quicker than the 2025 champion’s run and was also tops among males age 15-29.
Monticello High School runner Eli Carling was the overall runner-up for the second year in a row with a very impressive 18:37.3
Justin Hunt of Orem was third overall with a 19:26.0, and Linden English of Monticello crossed the line fourth with a time of 21:00.0. Brian Bothwell took fifth overall in 21:08.4, winning the men’s 30-44 division.
Allie Carling of Monticello was the first female runner across the line, finishing 12th overall in 23:52.4 and winning the women’s 15-29 division.
Emett Carling showed his up-and-coming talent when he came home in 24:11.6 to win the men’s 1-14 division in 15th overall.
Drew Zlotoff took the Men’s 45-59 title in 19th overall with a run of 25:24.7. Monticello’s Brenna Baxter was the fastest girl in the 1-14 age group with a solid run of 26:19.2 that put her in 24th overall.
Amanda Gibson of Smithville, TX was 28th overall and first in the women’s 30-44 division with a 26:45.4. Jon Morley of Monticello was 36th and first among men age 60-99 in 28:33.3.
Jamie Carling represented Monticello with a run of 29:46.1, good enough for 46th overall and first in the women’s 45-59 division. And Robin Garner completed the course in 54:43.7 to finish 78th overall and first in the women’s 60-99 division.
