Whitehorse volleyball season ends at 1A state tournament

The Whitehorse High School volleyball season came to a close with two losses at the 2024 1A Utah State Tournament in Richfield on Friday, November 1.
The Lady Raiders entered the tournament ranked seventh but suffered a straight-sets loss to #10 Wayne in the second round 25-18, 25-13, and 25-16.
In the sixth place quarterfinals later that same evening #15 Altamont beat Whitehorse 25-14 in the first set, but the Lady Raiders rallied to win the second 25-20.
Unfortunately Whitehorse couldn’t keep the momentum going in the third and final set. They fell 25-13, ending their season with an 8-9 overall record.
The eight wins this year matches the mark the team set in the 2019 season. The histories are incomplete, but besides those two seasons the Lady Raiders haven’t had eight or more wins in a season going back as far as the MaxPreps and Deseret News records go (2002).
Junior Keira Chee led the Whitehorse offensive attack this season with an average of 7.7 kills per match. Sophomore Katiana Ben averaged 6.2 kills per match and junior Keira Little averaged 2.0. Senior Alyssa Eltsosie averaged 3.33 assists per match.
Chee averaged 4.5 aces per match and she served 90.9 percent. Eltsosie served up 3.0 aces per match and an 85.1 serve percentage. Ben had 2.5 aces per match and an 85.0 percentage.
Little led the team defensively with an average of three blocks per match and Ben averaged 1.7 blocks per match.
