San Juan volleyball team wins five in a row

The San Juan High School volleyball team has only lost one set in their past five matches as they’ve build a five-game winning streak over the course of the past two weeks.
In the past week at home the Lady Broncos swept Beaver on August 28, South Sevier on August 29, and Grand County on September 3, running their record to 9-4 overall and a perfect 5-0 on Region 18 play.
The team dominated Beaver 25-10, 25-12, and 25-16. Faith Flannery had an impressive 18 kills in the win. Kyliea Taylor served up five aces and Olivia Nielson collected 31 assists.
Adi Ivins had a team-high six digs while Flannery had five on the night. Havoc Laws and Olivia Nielson blocked two hits apiece.
It was much the same for San Juan the very next night as they crushed South Sevier 25-17, 25-14, and 25-8. Flannery had 20 kills in the win and Kyliea Taylor had ten.
Nielson matched her previous effort with another 31 assists. Aspyn Ivins served up three aces and Flannery served a couple.
Defensively Sloan Middleton and Olivia Nielson helped the Lady Broncos win with 12 and ten digs, respectively. Taya Chamberlain and Emri Black both blocked three hits apiece.
This past Thursday, September 3 San Juan took pleasure in dominating a local rival when Grand County came to town. They beat the Lady Red Devils handily 25-12, 25-12, and 25-13.
The stats look exceptionally similar to the previous two games. Faith Flannery knocked down 19 kills, Olivia Nielson had 25 assists, and Havoc Laws and Adi Ivins both served three aces apiece.
Adi Ivins had 11 digs in the win while Olivia Nielson had ten. Emri Black blocked two Grand County hits; Taya Chamberlain and Havoc Laws had one block apiece.
Though the official RPI standings for the 2A classification are still forthcoming, the Lady Broncos are listed in second place in the 2A behind 7-3 American Leadership Academy according to MaxPreps.
San Juan will try to keep the momentum rolling against two 3A opponents this week. On Tuesday, September 8 they played 3-3 Emery after the San Juan Record print deadline.
On Wednesday, September 9 they’ll head to Price to take on the tough Carbon Lady Dinos. Carbon is 7-4 on the season and has won four of their last five games.
