The San Juan High School wrestling team dominated the Dave Smith Memorial at Carbon High School in Price this past weekend, scoring 363 points to win the tournament by 130 points over second-place Monticello.
The Broncos won all seven of their duals by large margins over Telos, Juan Diego, American Fork, Carbon, Carbon 2, and Monticello on the way to their second victory in as many tournaments to start the year.
Five San Juan wrestlers went undefeated on the weekend and another four had just one loss.
Taydan Mark and Chad Yellow were both 6-0. All six of Mark’s wins were by fall. Yellow had four wins by fall, one by technical fall, and one by major decision.
Callen Burke, Taylor Black, and Trace Bennett were all 3-0 in Price with all their wins by fall.
Logan Keith and Parker Snyder had five wins and one loss with all their wins by fall.
JD Palmer and Nicholas Joe were 4-1 with all of their wins by fall.
Taren Bayles, Lynnox Benn, and Grady Lacy all picked up three wins by fall apiece with three losses at the tournament.
San Juan is living up to their 2A preseason ranking of #3 in the state in their first two events and are proving to be the team to beat in southeastern Utah.
Speaking of central Utah, the Broncos head northwest again this weekend for the Manti Holiday Classic on Friday and Saturday, December 16-17.
