San Juan boys win region track & field meet, girls finish sixth

The San Juan boys won the region 18 track and field championship on May 6 held at SUU Coliseum in Cedar City.
The Bronco boys finished with 137 points ahead of second place Parowan by 13 points.
San Juan was led by Tripp Palmer who won region titles in the javelin and high jump and finished 2nd in the long jump. Cash Palmer finished 1st in the shot put and 2nd in the discus. Andrew Nielson won the title in the 300 hurdles and finished 5th in the 110 hurdles. Also winning a title was Platte Lyman in the 800.
Gaige Palmer finished as a runner up in the shot put and 3rd in the discus. Miken Keith was 2nd in the javelin and 7th in the 100, Brigg Palmer finished 2nd in the 110 hurdles and 7th in the shot put. Kai Fox finished 5th in the shot put. Several Broncos finished in 6th place including Rosendo Martine in the 1600, Kooper Laws in the 110 hurdles, and Danny Price in the long jump. Peter Lyman was 7th in the 3200 and 8th place finishes were earned by Trey Brdaford in the discus and Ryan Shumway in the javelin.
The Broncos were runner-ups in the 4x100 meter relay made up of Brigg and Tripp Palmer, Andrew Nielson and Keith.
The 4x400 team was also a runner up made up of Laws, Price, Platte Lyman and Andrew Nielson.
The lady Broncos finished 6th at the region 18 meet.
The Broncos were led by Keezie Flannery who was 2nd in the high jump and 7th in the 100 hurdles. Also earning runner-up honors was Sadie Palmer in the javelin.
Addison Ivins finished 3rd place in the high jump and 4th in the long jump, while Sincere Nez finished 3rd in the 3200, and 5th in the 1600. Aspyn Ivins finished 4th in the shot put and 8th in the 300 hurdles. Addison Helquist finished 6th in the 100 and 7th in the long jump. Faith Flannery was 7th in the high jump and 8th in the 100 hurdles. Lucy Black finished 7th in the discus and Ada Lyman was 8th in the 3200.
The Broncos were runners-up in the 4x100 relay made up of Helquist, Addison and Aspyn Ivins and Keezie Flannery. The Medley relay finished 4th including Lyman, Nez and Palmer and the 4x400 relay was sixth made up of Black, Lyman, Ava Duke and Faith Flannery.
San Juan has 41 athletes qualified for the state meet taking place at BYU in Provo May 15-16.
