San Juan boys win Region 18 Cross Country Championship in Moab, girls take second
The San Juan boys cross country team won the Region 18 Championship in Moab on Wednesday, October 7 and the girls came home second.
The Bronco boys finished nine points ahead of Grand County to take the region title with 39 points. Sophomore Cannon Kartchner led the way for the team with a third-place overall finish in 16:25.
Senior Platte Lyman crossed the line in sixth place with a solid run of 16:52. Junior Jeraden Hurst was 17 seconds behind Lyman in seventh overall.
Keegan McCullough tail-ended the scoring positions for the Broncos, finishing tenth overall with a time of 17:25.
Jack Kartchner took 13th overall in 17:40, James Gosney was 20th in 18:18, Peter Lyman came in 22nd in 18:33, and Oren Bradford was the eighth San Juan boy across the line in 25th overall with a time of 18:39.
Sincere Nez paced the girls with a runner-up finish, completing the three-mile course in 19:59. The San Juan senior crossed the line 39 seconds behind race winner Hadley Kasprick of Grand County.
Sophomore Ada Lyman was the second Lady Bronco to finish, in tenth overall with a time of 22:22. Senior Brooklynn Pincock was 12th in 22:34, and junior Ava Duke took 14th with a run of 23:20.
Senior Harmony Oshley rounded out the San Juan scoring with a 26th-place finish in 25:23. Braylyn Eddie was 27th overall in 25:26, Sariah Sweeten finished 33rd in 27:14, and Delilah Tahy was 47th in 36:22.
The Broncos are next in action when they begin the 2026 Utah State Championship at the Divisional Meet at Lakeshore Park in Orem on Tuesday, October 13.
