San Juan boys golf opens season

It’s a new season with some changes for the San Juan High School boys golf team. Lance Knight has taken over as head coach and the year is already in full swing.
On August 9 the Broncos traveled to Salt Lake City to open the season against Region 19 opponents at the Mountain View Tournament. San Juan shot 474 as a team to finish in sixth place.
Jett Johnson led with a 104 on the day. Trevin Palmer carded a 107, and Cooper Yoakam rounded out the Bronco top three with a 121.
Kaleb Johnson shot 142 on the afternoon, Kavan Harris scored 148, Lachlan Lacy got 151, and Spencer Gosney finished the tournament with a 158.
San Juan returned to San Juan County to play the Hideout Golf Course against Region 19 opponents on August 16. They improved their team score by 34 points, but still finished in sixth with a 442.
Jett Johnson led the Broncos again with a solid 100. Marty Clinger joined the team to shoot a 110, Palmer carded a 115, and Yoakam scored 117.
Harris got a 140 for San Juan while Lacy shot 144, Kaleb Johnson got a 146, and Gosney came home with a 153.
San Juan once again took on Region 19 opponents at the Cove View Golf Course in Richfield this past Wednesday, August 24, but results were not available prior to the press deadline.
The Broncos are right back at it this week with a lengthy road trip to St. George to play the Red Hills Golf Course on Wednesday, August 31.
