San Juan boys golf closes season at state tourney

The San Juan High School boys golf team brought their season to a close at the 2024 2A Utah Golf State Championship October 8-9 at the Cedar Ridge Golf Course in Cedar City.
The Broncos shot a 406 as a team, finishing 14th in the competition. They were unable to make the day-one team cut and did not register a team score on the second day of the tournament.
Nash Jones led the way for San Juan individually, finishing in a tie for 47th place overall with rounds of 88 and 100. Jones was the lone Bronco who made the day-one cut, earning a round on day two. He scored a birdie on hole 14 in the first round.
Noah Olsen shot a 96 in the first round for San Juan, Liam Lacy scored 106, Baylor Nielson carded a 116, Teagan Harris had a 122, and Kavan Harris shot a 131.
Jones led the team in 2024 with an 89.47-stroke average. Olsen was next with an average of 95.03. Lacy averaged 105.42 strokes per round this season in third for the Broncos.
Nielson was fourth with a 109.64 average, Teagen Harris had a 113.84 average in fifth, and Kavan Harris was sixth on the team with a 120.52.
Lander Hart was seventh among San Juan golfers with his average of 123.79 strokes per round. Ryan Shumway was eighth with a 126.88 average, and Lachlan Lacey was ninth with a 129.46.
The Broncos finished third in the 2A Region 15 team standings behind Grand County and North Summit. They were 15th in the 2A classification with a team average of 394.06 strokes per round.
