Marcus Denny earns third at state as Whitehorse wrestlers conclude season

The Whitehorse High School wrestling team finished their 2022-23 season at the 1A Utah State Wrestling Tournament in Richfield this past Friday and Saturday, February 10-11.
Senior Marcus Denny led the way for the Raiders, earning a third-place medal at the event. In the opening round Denny scored the first takedown and had a 7-2 lead when he defeated his opponent from Panguitch by fall in the third period. In the semifinal round Denny was defeated 6-3 but he came back strong in the consolation semis with a big 10-4 win. In the third-place match he faced his opening-round opponent again, this time scoring an 8-3 win. Denny was the state runner-up in 2022 and placed third in 2020.
Also competing for the Raiders this weekend was senior Alroy Mike who earned a first period win by fall in the second round. Sophomore Malakai Rentz earned a first-period win by fall in the second round. And junior Kelan Dee wrestled hard for Whitehorse.
