Hideout Golf Course to host big Shootout and Amateur tournaments this Friday thru Sunday

The Hideout Golf Club in Monticello will host its two largest golf tournaments of the year this weekend as hundreds of golfers and others will fill the course.

Golf Pro Jeff Simons said 75 two-person teams had already signed up for the Hideout Shootout by July 26. The best-ball tournament will be played on Friday, July 30.

There will be two shotgun starts for the tournament, with the first group heading out in the morning and the second shotgun start beginning after lunch.

The Hideout Amateur is set for Saturday, July 31 and Sunday, August 1 with more than 110 early entrants. The tournament will feature several flights and both gross and net competition.

Simons stated the course is in great shape after two weeks of rain. “We had a tough start to the year but have turned the corner,” he explained. “We are about two weeks away from being right where we want to be.”

An extended drought and limited water supply has been a challenge this year, but monsoon rains have been wonderful. Simons said several tee boxes have been reseeded.

The annual tournament is a showcase for the Hideout, which is listed by Golf Week magazine as the second-best public golf course in the State of Utah. The course is also listed by Golf Week in the top 20 municipal courses in the United States.
