Helquist gets sixth place and San Juan wrestlers finish 15th at state

San Juan High School freshman wrestler Deklan Helquist went 3-2 at 106 pounds to lead the way for the Broncos with a sixth place result at the 3A state wrestling tournament this past week.

The Broncos finished in 15th place as a team with 22 points at the event, which was held at the Sevier Valley Center in Richfield on Friday, February 19.

Helquist got three wins by fall in the fifth-place bracket over Landon Bagley of South Sevier, Logan Eagar of Providence Hall, and Tyler Payne of Juab. His losses were to Richfield’s Drexton Torgerson in round one and Kole Johnson of Grantsville in the fifth-place match.
