Gear up for several competitions at the Hideout Golf Club in coming weeks

Everybody digs the long ball, especially on the golf course. Golfers forever have been on a quest to hit the golf ball as far as they possibly can.
On Saturday, July 25 they can compete for prize money to do just that – hit the golf ball farther than anyone else.
As part of Monticello’s Pioneer Day celebration, the Hideout Golf Club will host its annual long drive contest. Men and women, boys and girls can compete against their peers.
Long drivers have two options to participate on that Saturday, from 9-11 a.m. and again from 3-5 p.m.
Moab’s Wyatt Toney, who plays collegiately at Westminster, is the overall defending champion as he hit drives over 340 yards last year.
The long drive competition is part of the very busy summer season at the Hideout. The annual Shootout and 36-hole Amateur are at the end of this month.
There are still openings for the best-ball shootout, but the field for the very popular Amateur is full. The Four Corners Ladies Team Play also comes to Monticello on July 30.
Teams from golf clubs in Cortez, Durango, Farmington, and Pagosa Springs play a summer-long competition all around the Four Corners area.
The final junior camp is scheduled for August 3-5. Kids ages 6-14 can come learn the game of golf in a fun environment.
The high school season starts in early August for the San Juan High School boys team with the Hideout hosting their only home event of the season on August 6.
