Combined 12th place for Buckaroo track team in Roosevelt

The Monticello High School track and field team traveled to Roosevelt, UT this past Friday, April 14 to compete in the Strata Invitational, garnering a number of solid performances.
The Buckaroo girls scored 18 points to finish tenth at the event while the boys scored 15 and came home 11th. Combined the teams collected 33 points, which was good enough for 12th place overall.
Monticello athletes scored points in seven different competitions. Leading the way was Berlynn Black with her second-place performance in the girls high jump. She cleared four feet, ten inches to score eight points.
Robert Morrison finished fourth in the long jump and javelin events, scoring five points in each. He cleared 19-11.25 in the long jump and threw the javelin an impressive 146-08.5.
Ayla Carling brought home the Bucks’ other fourth-place finish when she ran a swift 13:56.56 time in the 3200-meter race.
In the boys 3200 Jesse Pettit finished fifth in 11:26.54 and Curtis Bunker crossed the line in eighth with a time of 11:53.03. The teammates scored four points and one point respectively for their effort.
The girls 4x400 relay team of Kahryme Alvarado, Rosy Beh, Aubrey Black, and Lilli Burton took fifth in 5:05.29 to score four points for Monticello.
And the girls 4x100 squad of Kenlee Atwood, Rosy Beh, Cami Dowell, and Makenna Peterson finished their relay in 1:00.05 to capture eighth place and one point.
Next up for the Buckaroos is a trip north to Price on Friday, April 21 for the Eastern Utah Championship. Competition begins at 1 p.m.
