Monument Valley senior selected to wrestle in the 20th annual Utah All-star Duals in Orem
Eleven months after being named Most Valuable Wrestler at the 2019 1A State Wrestling Tournament, Monument Valley High School senior Tanner Tsinigine was selected to wrestle in the 20th-annual Utah All-star Duals at Utah Valley University in Orem, UT.
Tsinigine was among 97 wrestlers who participated in the event Tuesday, January 14 and was scheduled to meet Will Harmon of Juab High School. Since the match occurred after our press deadline, we’ll have the result in next week’s issue.
According to the Deseret News, the All-star event “has evolved immensely over the past 20 years and continues to be one of the marquee nights on the calendar for the wrestling community.”
Tsinigine’s win over Monticello’s Zach Cecil in the 2019 state championship match was his first state championship, but he had qualified for the state tournament in each of his high school seasons.
Tsinigine has 11 wins and just one loss this season, which includes 10 wins by fall. His most recent victory, in the Pine View Invitational first place match on January 11, was by major decision, 10-1.
