Vaqueras claim silver trophy

The Monticello High School Vaqueras Drill Team brought home the second-place trophy from the 1A state championship on February 2. It was oh, so close in the race for the state title with Piute.
The team competed in Military, Jazz, and Character competitions and brought home the silver trophy.  They were also awarded the Sportsmanship Award for 1A  and Vaqueras Coach Monique Christensen was named 1A Coach of the Year!
Four members of the squad were named to the 1A Academic All-State squad, including Carlyn Goodwine, Abi Nielson, Erin Rogers and Halle Young.
Three members of the team were named to the All-State Dance team, including Ashton Adams, Halle Young, and Shalee Bradford.
Team members include Abi Nielson, Erin Rogers, Morgan Maloy, Ivy Fellmeth, Halle Young, Shalee Bradford, Carlyn Goodwine, Alejandra Carranza, Cami Lewis, Sammy Brooks, McKenzie Redd, Ashton Adams, Elle Nielson, Dani Chavira, Shelbie Musselman, and Whitney Knudsen.
