San Juan County hires new economic development coordinator

Natalie Randall has been hired as the new director of Economic Development for San Juan County.  Randall replaces Charlie DeLorme, who left the position more than six months ago.
Randall currently works for the City of Monticello, where she fills a host of positions, including Director of Parks and Recreation, and head of the Pioneer Day Celebration committee.
Randall started as the Parks and Recreation Director for the City of Monticello in March, 2015.
She is expected to assume her new position in August.
San Juan County Administrator Kelly Pehrson said the county interviewed nine applicants before picking Randall for the position.
“The committee really liked her enthusiasm,” said Pehrson.  “And she has done great things for the City of Monticello, including working with economic development officials from the state.”
In a second round of interviews, Randall was asked to present her plans for the department.  “The committee really loved her ideas,” said Pehrson.
The selection committee includes Commissioners Bruce Adams and Rebecca Benally, in addition to San Juan County Human Resource Director Walter Bird, Blanding City Manager Jeremy Redd, and Pehrson.
Pehrson said the applicant pool was great, including “very strong local residents with good business experience.”
Randall will be responsible for the full range of economic development efforts, including tourism promotion.  Over the past two years, Commissioners have considered splitting the office into separate economic development and tourism promotion efforts.
Pehrson explained that Commissioners are open to Randall’s recommendations about how to structure the office.
A Utah transplant moving out west for the mountains and school, Natalie Randall originally hails from northern Virginia.
Before moving to Monticello, she spent four years as a program development coordinator at the University of Utah Hospital Rehabilitation Department.  Randall has a degree in Exercise Physiology and adaptive recreation.
Natalie and her husband Dustin enjoy spending their time outdoors biking, climbing, and skiing.
