Municipal elections to be held this fall, filling period is open from June 1 thru 7

Candidates for city council seats in Blanding, Bluff, and Monticello will be filing for office June 1 through 7 at city offices.
Candidates for the three seats in Monticello and Blanding and the two seats in Bluff will be seeking appointment to four-year terms by voters in November.
In Blanding, there are three seats on the city council. Candidates may file a declaration of candidacy form or nomination petition between June 1 and June 7 at the Blanding City offices at 50 W 100 S. Filings may occur on weekdays between the hours of 7:30 am - 5:30 pm Monday through Thursday and 7:30 am - Noon on Friday. The three Blandings seats up for election are currently held by Kellen Nielson, Len Gasser, and Chris Ewald.
Candidates in Blanding must meet the following qualifications: 1.) Be a United States citizen; 2.) Be a registered voter of the City; 3.) Be a resident of Blanding City for at least 365 consecutive days immediately preceding the date of the election; and 4.) Not be a convicted felon, unless their right to hold elective office has been restored.
In Monticello, there are three seats on the city council, each for four-year terms. Candidates may file at the Monticello City offices at 17 N 100 E. Filings may occur on weekdays between the office hours of 8:00 am to 5:00 pm starting Thursday, June 1 with the candidacy period closing on Wednesday, June 7, at 5:00 pm. The three Monticello seats up for election are currently held by Kim Henderson, Ron Skinner, and Nathan Chamberlain.
A declaration of Candidacy Form or Nomination Petition must be filed in person for Monticello candidates, or by a designated agent if the candidate is out of the state during the entire filing period.
If primary elections are needed in Monticello or Blanding they will be held on August 15.
In Bluff, there are two town council seats open, each for four-year terms.
Candidates may file at the town office at the Bluff Community Center at 190 North 300 East. Filings may occur on weekdays between the office hours of 8:00 am to 5:00 pm starting Thursday, June 1 with the candidacy period closing on Wednesday, June 7, at 5:00 pm. The two Bluff seats up for election are currently held by Brant Murray and Jim Sayers.
