Half-day Moki Dugway road closure August 3
A six-hour closure of Moki Dugway is planned on Thursday, August 3. The Utah Department of Transportation (UDOT) road construction project on State Route 261 (SR-261) is expected to close the Moki Dugway for approximately six hours.
The planned closure is anticipated to last from 7 a.m. until 1 p.m. to allow crews to safely correct surface irregularities on SR-261 at the base of Moki Dugway.
The section of road will be closed to ensure there is enough space to work safely and to truck in the necessary paving material.
UDOT is repaving approximately 30 miles of roads near Valley of the Gods, including State Routes 163, 261, and 316 this construction season. SR-261 will be closed periodically throughout the project as needed to complete the work.
The public is encouraged to visit the UDOT Traffic website or app at udottraffic.utah.gov for updates on current conditions, closures, and construction activities.

Improvements on these routes will include smoothing the road surface, patching potholes, laying new pavement in paved areas, fresh striping, and the replacement of two cattle guards.
Some guardrails will also be updated to the latest standards. These improvements will provide a better traveling experience and extend the life of the roads and bridge.
