Bears Ears issues delayed in US Senate

The holding pattern surrounding the Bears Ears National Monument continues as the US Senate has failed to move ahead with the confirmation of Ryan Zenke as the Secretery of the Interior.
President Donald Trump’s pick to head the Interior Department has not yet moved through the Senate approval process.
An attempt for a voice vote failed before the recent Senate recess, meaning it will be March before Zenke can be approved.
The nominee, who currently serves as a Congressman representing Montana, has stated that his first stop as Secretery of the Interior will be to visit the people impacted by the Bears Ears designation, which was made in the final days of the presidency of Barack Obama.
To date, the Senate has approved just a handful of the estimated 1,100 executive branch appointments.
