William Bruce Francom Sr.

William Bruce Francom Sr. was born September 29,1939, to William Boley Francom and Edith Irma Fischer, in New York.
He is the eldest brother of three sisters and three brothers. He died on July 13, 2015 at 7:36 p.m.
He married Kay Conger on April 5, 1962 in Salt Lake City. This marriage was solemnized in the Salt Lake Temple of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
Bill and Kay had nine children: William Bruce Jr., Tammy Kay, Steven Matthew, Aaron Rodney, Melanie, Richard LeGrand, Reid Michael, Collette, and Ruth Jorgina.
Bill had attained his Eagle scout award at the age of twelve. He had several jobs: local grocery store, working in the fruit orchards, thinning out sugar beets, and many newspaper routes.
Bill attended the University of Utah to learn about nutrition. Bill joined the Army Reserves, worked at Skaggs Drug Center and managed his own department. This made it possible for Bill to go on a LDS Mission to Australia. Kay Conger waited for him and finished her high school years at this time.
Bill’s career was in the uranium, gold, and silver mining industry. He worked in being a manager in the safety field in mining. He worked with the surface and underground mining teams and trained many miners in MSHA.
Bill worked with Mine Rescue Teams and even participated in the Wilburg Mine disaster in Emery County. He retired and was entered into the Metal and Non-metal Hall of Fame on July 15, 2004.
Bill and Kay served an honorable mission in Leeds England with the Church Education System (CES) Institute Program for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.
They taught 150 students and helped with the missionaries. Bill and Kay served as ordinance workers in the Monticello Temple for seven and a half years.
At the time of his death, Bill was First Counselor in the High Priest Quorum of the Monticello Third Ward. Bill has served the Lord and we know the Lord will say, “Well done, thou good and faithful servant.”
Bill is survived by his three sisters, three brothers, wife Kay, three sons, three daughters, 33 grandchildren, and 29 great grandchildren.
Bill was a great patriarch to his family, serving in many callings: including counselor in the Bishopric, Branch President twice, and Bishop in Battle Mountain, NV.
Providing, caring, loving, and cherishing his family was truly his purpose of his life. Bill loved his God, family and country.
