Tharla Larson Holyoak

July 10, 1932 ~ February 20, 2019
Tharla Larson Holyoak, 86, died peacefully in her family’s arms on Wednesday, February 20 in Murray, UT.
She was born on July 10, 1932 in Randlett, UT to Tharol and Hannah Larson.
Tharla graduated from Brigham Young University and taught school in California, Clarkston, and Moab, where she met her husband, Richard Leroy Holyoak. They were married in the Salt Lake Temple on August 25, 1955.
Tharla and Richard built a home at the foot of Blue Mountain in Monticello, UT.
There she raised four children, led community art and music, and exemplified her Church callings.
Tharla was well-travelled and famously able to hold a conversation with anyone who could keep up. Like Anna of old, she spent her last decades serving in the Monticello Temple.
Connoisseur of old colloquialisms (I’ll be go to grass) and impatient right up to death (her last words: fiddle dee dee, fiddle dee dum), Tharla lived life fast: walking, eating, driving, making friends or making decisions. She was unapologetic, uncontainable, effusive in her praise of others. Her infectious laugh filled every room she was in.
Tharla is survived by children R. Larson (Susan) Holyoak, Terri (David) Welcker, Bruce (Pauline) Holyoak, Michael (Cindi) Holyoak; 19 grandchildren and 32 great-grandchildren.
Tharla is preceded in death by husband Richard Leroy, parents Tharol and Hannah, brother Clint, and two great-grandchildren.
Graveside services were February 23 in Monticello.
