Sherry Ray May 12, 1941 ~ July 6, 2024
Sherry Ray, age 83 of Blanding, UT, passed away on July 6, 2024 after a short battle with acute myeloid leukemia.
Sherry was born on May 12th, 1941 in Charleston, SC to Earl and Louise Robuck. She was one of three siblings; the only girl born between her older brother James and younger brother Larry. Her family then moved to Colorado, first to Grand Junction and then to Nucla.
In 1985, she and her family moved to Blanding, UT.
Sherry is predeceased by her father, mother, and older brother.
Sherry is survived by her husband of 63 years, Jerry Ray, children Kathy (Chris) Glanville and Jim (Dana) Ray, grandchildren Maddox Ray, Presley Ray, and Nash Ray, and brother Larry Robuck.
Throughout her life, Sherry touched the hearts of many with her kindness, compassion, nonjudgmental caring and love. She believed that people at heart are good and approached life with the unwavering belief in being there for others.
She deeply believed in the importance of education and spent many years volunteering as a mentor for young children. It was a true passion of hers to watch young eyes light up with newfound understanding of a concept which they had been struggling to grasp and that she was able to help them reach that new level of knowledge.
Her family, especially her husband, Jerry, were her world and they were and are all the better for having been that loved. Her lifelong friends were just that, lifelong friends that also meant the world to her. She will be deeply missed.
The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the dear friends who provided meals and support during Sherry’s final few weeks and to Shadd Christensen, Tami Sanchez and Rachel Clark of Zion’s Way.
The funeral service will be held at Blanding South Chapel on Saturday, July 20 at 11 a.m.
Sherry’s last wish is that you tell your loved ones that you love them – daily, and that you are proud of them. Don’t let the day come and go that they don’t know those two things.
