Roger Lee Plummer

May 2, 1943 ~ October 20, 2018
Roger Lee Plummer passed away on Saturday morning, Oct. 20, 2018 from the effects of cancer – surrounded by his children and loving spouse. It was a very sacred experience.
He did not resign himself to death, but humbly accepted it and trusted in God all the way to the end. He was confident that the end of this life was truly the beginning of another life in an eternal realm.
Roger was born in Minneapolis, MN on May 2, 1943 to Marie Clara Kerr and Myron James Plummer. He was raised in picturesque Effie, MN with his older brother Larry, attended Big Fork High School, and graduated in 1962.
He served our country in the Air Force as a military policeman from 1964 to 1968 at Vandenberg Air Force Base near Lompoc, CA.
He met his wife-to-be, Linda Fae Tognazzini, on a double blind date and knew immediately he would “marry that girl.” They were married in 1968 and eventually welcomed their twins, Kenneth and Kimberly.
They settled in Vandenberg Village where Roger’s career with the Federal Bureau of Prisons spanned over two decades.
He chose to become a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in 1981 and to be sealed for time and eternity to his family a year later in the Los Angeles Temple.
In 2001, he and his wife moved to Blanding, UT to be close to their family. They served in the Monticello Temple and then later in the Washtington D.C. Temple as missionaries.
Their temple services lasted for more than 15 years, deeply refining their lives. Roger loved serving in the temple. We believe that it was this service over the years that gave him the spiritual strength to face death with faith in the God he served.
That faith continues to inspire his posterity: children, Kenneth (Cecilia) and Kimberly (Stephen Hiatt); grandchildren, Kristopher (Katherine), Katie (Kade Lyman), Ashton, Heidi, Tanner (Jessica), Keaton, and Mckay; great-grandchildren, Berkeley, Emma, and Payton.
Roger will be missed for the way he thoroughly enjoyed socializing with family and friends. He reveled in conversations with everyone. That focus on and love for others endeared him to hundreds. We honor the mortal life of this wonderful man and anticipate a sweet reunion in the life to come.
