Rita Walker

August 4, 1941 ~ June 18, 2019
Rita Walker, 77, long-time resident of Monticello, passed away in South Jordan, UT on June 18, 2019 after a 6 1/2 year fight with adrenal cancer.
Rita was born August 4, 1941 to John J. and Irene A. McMann in Fort Dodge, IA.
As the child of an Army officer, she moved from place to place before attending high school in Aberdeen, MD.
It was there she met her first husband, Samuel MacCauley.  They had two children, Linda and Marc.
Following a divorce, she met Daniel J. Walker, who was stationed at the Aberdeen Proving Ground.
They married having only known each other for two weeks. They packed up the family and moved to Monticello in 1972.
While in Monticello, Rita worked for the San Juan Hospital for 15 years as a transcriptionist.
Then she took a job with the City of Monticello and worked in the City Offices for another 15 years.
Living in Monticello ended after 35 years when she and Danny moved to Saratoga Springs, UT to be closer to medical services.
After 41 years of marriage, Danny passed in August 2012.
After his death, Rita moved to South Jordan, UT to be closer to her mother and son.
Irene died in 2018 at the tender age of 97.  Rita died just over a year later.
She is survived by her two children Linda (Bev) and Marc (Wendie); and the light in her life, her three grandchildren, Camille, Laynie, and Sam.
Rita loved Monticello, and she always claimed it as home.
One of the joys in her life was her and Danny’s nightly drives around the loop looking for deer.
There will be no public event to commemorate her passing.
Per her request, the family will spread her ashes alongside Danny’s, on her favorite place, the Blue Mountains.
God Bless you, Grandma.  You’ll be missed.
