Rene L. Morin

September 26, 1920 ~ March 15, 2012
Rene Lyman Morin passed away in Rock Springs, Wyoming on March 15, 2012 at the age of 91. Rene was born on September 26, 1920, in the high country of Blanding, UT to Edward Partridge Lyman and Irene Perkins Lyman.
She was a most lovely flower from the desert. Rene was an author, a poet, a composer, a teacher, a secretary, a pianist, and a beloved wife and mother. Her unselfishness and patience were unparalleled. She was bright, happy, energetic, full of hope, full of faith, and athletic. She filled home with music and song. She had tremendous endurance.
Rene attended both Utah State University and Brigham Young University, proving that Cougars and Aggies can get along. Rene also attended LDS Business College and Dixie College.
She was a wonderful model of charity and a great example of how to be a saint in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Rene served a full-time mission for the church, during which she met Arthur R. Morin, her future husband. They were an excellent pair. They were married in the Salt Lake City temple in October, 1948, and over the course of several years had 11 children. All 11 children (and their children’s spouses) are still alive: Art (Norma), Brad (Cathy), Marilee (Roger Larsen), Julynn (Robert Simmons), Ed (Lorraine), Lynette (Jeff Moore), Ben (Deann), Burke (Christine), Chris (Connie), Charles (Kimber), and Carolyn (Wally Arave). At the time of her death, Rene and Art had 57 grandchildren (23 of whom had spouses) and 34 great-grandchildren.
One of her most memorable traits was her practice of leaving notes to herself in short-hand.
Rene’s parents, all of her siblings (DeAlton, Kay, Edward – known as Bob, Almon, and Allie), and a grandson (little Wally Morin Arave), all of whom she loved dearly, preceded her in death.
Though we are thankful that her last years of hardship are over, we mourn Rene’s passing yet rejoice in the faith that heaven has experienced a reunion of great joy.
Services were held March 24, 2012 at the Rivergrove Second Ward chapel in Provo, UT. Interment at Provo City Cemetery.
