Patricia Lonczyna Lyman March 13, 1837 ~ May 22, 2026

Patricia Lonzcyna Lyman passed away on May 22, 2026 in South Jordan, UT. Pat was born in Saint George, UT on March 13, 1937. Her parents were Leonard and Leona Nazer Lonczyna.
She lived in St. George in her early years with her grandparents and her many aunt and uncles whom she adored. She has many fond memories of the times she had with them throughout her life.
She has three siblings that she has loved and are so grateful for Lonnie Lonczyna (Marsha), Phil Lonczyna ( Peggy ), Becky Hansen (Lance). Patricia has many cousins, in-laws, nieces and nephews that she has had many great times with.
Pat spent her elementary years in California before moving to Blanding to attend high school. She made friends with just about everyone at the school. She loved to sing and to act.
During high school she met Raymond Johnson Lyman and they married on August 23, 1954. To their union they were blessed with five children. Kyle Lyman (Janet), Lynel Ochoa who sadly left us in January, (Bob), LaDawn Peterson (Bob), Leonard Lyman (Debbie), and Mason Lyman.
She later divorced in 1984. She was a wonderful, caring, loving mother and grandmother. She was devoted to her 23 grandchildren, 62 great-grandchildren, with one on the way, and five great-great grandchildren.
Her eyes never failed to light up when she saw her family and appreciated the time she could spend with them.
Patricia earned a Bachelors in Education from the University of Utah in 1973. She was a great student and loved learning.
She started her teaching career at Eastmont Middle School teaching 9th Grade English. This was a dream come true.
She was an avid reader and was a published poet. She was thrilled to be able to share these attributes with her students.
She also taught at San Juan High School. She returned to school at BYU to get a Masters Degree in Library Science. She worked as a Librarian at Union Jr. High School and later for Jordan School District as the district librarian. She also worked at many Salt Lake County libraries.
Pat was a faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints and served diligently in many callings.
She was Relief Society President, Mutual President, Stake Relief Society President, counselor in presidencies and Gospel Doctrine teacher as well as many other teaching assignments in Butler 10th ward in Salt Lake and her many wards in Blanding.
She freely shared her testimony with her family and friends. She wanted her family to know that Jesus Christ is the truth and the light and that gaining a personal relationship with Christ is so important.
Services will be held on June 6, 2026 at 11:00 am at the South Chapel, 260 South Main in Blanding, UT. All who knew and loved her are invited to attend to celebrate Patricia’s life.
