Oscar Marion Jameson

February 15, 1911 ~ February 13, 2008

Congratulations, Dad, on a long life, honorably and fully lived!

Our dear father, grandfather, uncle, and friend left us to join his beloved wife on February 13, 2008. He was 96 years of age.

Dad was born September 15, 1911, in Moab, UT. He graduated from Ammon High School in Idaho Falls, ID, and attended Ricks College and Brigham Young University.

He married Dorothy Redd on June 4, 1937 in the Salt Lake Temple of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

For 22 years he lived and worked for Redd Ranches in La Sal, UT, where he operated the general store, ranched, and worked with livestock.

They moved with their family to Provo in 1957, and he later retired as the Welfare Coordinator of the LDS Church Mt. Timpanogos Welfare Region Bishop’s Storehouse in Orem.

Dad loved being with his family, serving in his church callings, gardening, fishing, and music.

He sang for several years with the Mendelssohn Male Chorus. He fulfilled many church callings including La Sal Branch President two different times, Bishop of the Bonneville Ward, and High Counselor.

His love for scouting was magnified in his service as Scoutmaster and his influence for good was felt in the lives of many young men. He and Dot served in the New York Rochester Mission, and their missionary efforts continued throughout their lives.

He is survived by his children: Robert (Jolene) Jameson, Virginia (Larry) Baxter, Mary Campbell, Shirley Jameson, Oscar Redd (Joy) Jameson, Karen (Tim) Risher, and Colleen (Shaun) Wells, 28 grandchildren, and 51 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were February 18, 2008, at the Bonneville LDS Stake Center in Provo, UT. Interment in the Provo City Cemetery. Condolences may be sent to info@bergmortuary.com.
