Obid Allen Hamblin

On January 7, 2011 Obid Allen Hamblin peacefully passed away in his home.
Obid was born March 20, 1934 to Glen and Selena Hamblin in Eagar, AZ. He was the second of six children.
Obid served a mission for the LDS Church in Sacramento, CA. He then graduated from Brigham Young University, received his teaching certificate and moved to Moab, UT where he met his sweetheart, Georgia Evans. They married on March 6, 1970 and were sealed on April 25, 1970, both times in the LDS Temple in St. George, Utah. They made their home in Moab, where they raised five children.
Obid taught school, mainly English, for 34 years. His years with the Grand County School District yielded him many friends and memories that he loved dearly.
He loved music and loved to sing. He participated in community and church plays and productions. He was a talented writer and loved to make homemade Valentines for his family. He produced many poems, family histories, and stories that are treasured by his family and friends.
Obid was a devout member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He served in many callings and capacities. At the time of his death he was Patriarch of the Moab, UT Stake and a sealer in the Monticello Temple.
He loved taking drives with his sweetheart and spending time with his family. He was a devoted father and loved his children unconditionally. His grandchildren held a special place in his heart.
Obid leaves behind his wonderful wife Georgia and their five children; Jennifer Hamblin, of Moab; Rex Hamblin (Karen) of Farmington, NM; Janiece Atwood (Mark) of Monticello, UT; Rachel Hamblin of Taylorsville, UT; and Ruth Hamblin of Cave Junction, OR. Also left behind are seven grandchildren, brothers, sisters, nieces, nephews and countless friends. He is preceded in death by his father Glen, mother Selena, and sister Peggy Jack.
He touched many lives and will be missed by all.
The family would like to thank all those who have expressed their love and support. Funeral services were held on January 12, 2011 in Moab. Arrangements provided by the Kimmerle-Hefner funeral home.
