Neldon Evert Holt

June 3, 1932 ~ February 1, 2013

Neldon Evert Holt passed away at home with family by his bedside on February 1, 2013 in Blanding, UT.

Neldon was born in Joseph City, AZ June 3, 1932, the oldest son of Glen and Verle Holt.
He graduated from Holbrook High School in 1945, then served honorably in the United States Army.
He married his high school sweetheart Elinor Joline Mclaws on June 15, 1954. They celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary. She later died of cancer.
Neldon later married Roberta Garlett on February 26, 2005. She has been by his side during many long and difficult nights.
He was a devoted member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, where he served faithfully in many callings. Neldon served LDS missions in the Southern California Mission; Texas McAllen Mission; Espanola, NM and a number of years as a stake missionary to the Navajo people.
He was proud of his language capability in both Spanish and Navajo. He had a tremendous love for singing and participated in numerous community plays and choral events.

Neldon made his home in Blanding, where he worked and retired from the U.S. Postal Service.
He served as Justice of Peace and 2009 Parade Grand Marshall.
He found joy and accomplishment in his 14 years as the Little League football program facilitator.
He will be best remembered, however, for the love and service he gave his wife and children- instilling in them the virtues of honorable work ethics and devotion to both God and country.
His interests were camping, hunting, farming, outings and other activities with the family. He took great pleasure in horse back riding. He enjoyed horse packing trips and spoke often of the beauties and marvels of time spent in Grand Gulch.

He is survived by his wife Roberta (Bobbie) Garlett Holt, sons Gregory Evert (Michelle), Bryan Scott (Trudi) and Thayne Wallace (Stephanie) and daughters Terri Lynn Hunter (Kim) and Kendra Ann Moss (Ken). Neldon and Joline had 19 grandchildren, and 16 great-grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his first wife Elinor Joline, his parents, sister Doris and grandson Bryce Moss.

Funeral services were held on February 9, 2013 at the Blanding North Stake Center.
A viewing was held on February 8 and prior to the service. Interment at San Juan Memorial Park immediately after the funeral service.
