Michael was born to Don and Claire Northern on August 17, 1952, on the U.S. Army base at Fort Bliss in El Paso, TX. The oldest of four children (Karen, Jeanne, and Kendall). He passed away on November 25, 2025, surrounded by the people he loved most after a courageous battle with cancer.

He met Gail Otto in the summer of 1970, and they were married on July 21, 1973. Together they built a life filled with adventure, welcoming Autumn in 1975 and Colby in 1977, and eventually settled in Blanding, Utah.
A master electrician, he worked for Northern Electric, Energy Fuels, and the San Juan School District before founding 4 Corners Electrical Contracting. He later expanded his career in Arizona working in the electrical engineering field before happily returning to Blanding, his favorite place, in 2009.
He is survived by his wife, Gail; children Autumn (Bryan) and Colby (Jane); seven grandchildren; and seven great grandchildren.
He will be remembered for his love of the mountains, skiing, golfing, hunting, and every adventure shared with his family.
