Merrill Dee Shumway

November 19, 1939 ~ October 15, 2012
Merrill Dee Shumway died October 15, 2012 from injuries sustained from a fall.
He is the son of Grant Lee and Mabel Carroll Shumway, born November 19, 1939, along with his twin sister, Mary Lee Naylor.
He married Wilma Kay Black in 1962. His life was filled with loving service and commitment to his family, friends, associates, and especially his Heavenly Father.
He was a gifted leader and worked tirelessly to promote Christ centered principles and love of God. He served an LDS mission to the Northern States 1959-1961. He always felt blessed because of that experience.
He graduated from BYU in Electrical Engineering in 1968 and made a career in that field, eventually helping start up Precision Systems Engineering, which he loved.
He will be remembered for his strength to those who were weak and his faith and courage for those who despaired.
He was the best grandpa, dad, loving husband, and devoted friend. He was also an avid BYU fan. He considered the highlight of his life serving a mission to Australia with his eternal companion.
He is survived by his wife, Kay; children, Mendy (Brent) Maxwell, Pamela Shumway daughter-in-law, Steven (Jeanie) Shumway, Marie (Phil) Beauchesne, Clinton (Tammy) Shumway, Michelle (Jacob) Nuttall; 18 grandchildren, one great-grandchild; three brothers, Kay, Rex, Howard; and two sisters, Mary Lee Naylor and Carol Ruth Reed.
He is preceded in death by his son, Max B. Shumway.
A viewing was held on October 19 at Jenkins-Soffe Mortuary, in South Jordan, Utah, and October 20 at South Jordan Utah River Stake Center.
