Mel Nelson June 27, 1941 ~ November 7, 2025

Mel Nelson, age 84 of Monticello, passed away on November 7, 2025.
Mel was born on June 27, 1941, in Salt Lake City, UT. He spent the first 11 years of his life in Monroe and also lived in Ogden.
Mel graduated from the University of Utah with a degree in Civil Engineering. He went on to own his own structural steel company in Winchester, KY, where he was a structural engineer for schools, shopping centers, and other large projects.
Mel moved to Monticello in 2014. He was a member of the Monticello Planning Commission and the Rotary club for several years.
He is survived by his life partner of 62 years, Carla Nelson, his son Brett Nelson, and two grandchildren.
A private family service is planned in January.
