After the death of her husband in 1968, she began her working career. She was employed as a teacher’s aide at Park Terrace School and then moved to the San Juan District Media Center, where she was employed until her retirement in 1985.

Marva was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She served for many years in various positions.

Marva loved to travel and enjoyed seeing new things and meeting new people although she never met a stranger. She found great pleasure in nature; she always had a “pretty rock” or a dainty flower. She loved to tie quilts and made many that she gave to family and friends.
