Marjorie Mary Crowley

Funeral services for lifelong Cortez resident Marjorie Mary Crowley were held Saturday, March 29 at the Lewis Arriola Community Center. Interment followed at the Eastland Cemetery.
Visitation was Friday, March 28 from 6 to 8 p.m. at Ertel Memorial Chapel.
Marjorie was born October 8, 1915 in Rural Cortez, the daughter of Charles Wesley and Nancy (Stevenson) Wilson. She passed away at her home on Tuesday, March 25, 2014 at the age of 98.
On October 28, 1934 in Cortez, Marjorie married John William Crowley. They shared 77 years of marriage.
Marjorie loved and enjoyed her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren. She was a fun-loving person who was always available for a game of cards or Yahtzee.
Marjorie had a home at Lake Powell for many years and enjoyed boating, swimming, waterskiing, and fishing. She also loved to read.
Marjorie was a master gardener and kept a beautiful yard, big garden and orchard. She grew a large variety of fruits and vegetables and was an accomplished canner and a wonderful cook who liked to spoil her family by making their favorite foods.
Marjorie and her husband, J.W., had itchy feet and enjoyed many wonderful years of retirement, traveling and visiting with friends and family.
Surviving Marjorie are her daughter Joan (Gary) Mahaffey of Cortez; sons Dewayne “Buzz” of Cortez, Leo (Connie) Crowley of Flagstaff, AZ, Phillip Crowley of Cortez, Don (Sarah) Crowley of Cortez, and Lisle (Brenda) Crowley of St. George, UT; sister Faye Bertrande, of Cortez; and 22 grandchildren, 44 great-grandchildren, and nine great-great-grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her husband, John William Crowley; parents Charles and Nancy Wilson; grandson Kevin Crowley; great granddaughters Clarin Knuckles and Jill Knuckles; and ten brothers and sisters.
