Marie Eva G. Torres

_March 31, 1912 ~ October 30, 2007_

Marie Eva G. Torres a long time resident of Monticello, Utah, passed away on October 30, 2007 in Sandy, Utah, where she had been living with her daughter Marina Daniels.

Eva was born in Blanding, Utah on March 31, 1912 to Esquipula and Francesca Gallegos. Eva graduated from San Juan High, where she participated in the school choir and seminary.

Eva married David Torres on March 19, 1939 in St. Joseph Catholic Church in Monticello, Utah. Ten children were born to this union: Esquipula (Junior) Torres of Price, UT; Loa (Ross) Trujillo of Monticello; Cora (Bob) Nielson of Chandler, AZ; Josie (Greg) Walsh of Sandy, UT; Marina (Paul) Daniels of Sandy, UT; Punki (Michael) La Giglia of Springville, UT; Adam Lee (Linda) Torres of Lansing, KS; Manual (Ginger) Torres of Moab, UT; David (Sandra) Torres of Moab; and Leola (Edward) Hodson of Dove Creek, CO.

Her posterity includes 28 grandchildren, 56 great grandchildren and 12 great great grandchildren.

After the death of her husband David, Eva was employed at the San Juan Hospital where she later retired.

Eva was a devoted mother and grandmother. Her greatest joys were her grandchildren, family and many friends who lived in Monticello.

She will be remembered for her strong and enduring constitution. Eva enjoyed working in her flowerbeds and making her daily trips to the bank and post office.

Funeral services were held on November 3, 2007 with a mass at St. Joseph Catholic Church and services at the Monticello LDS Stake Center. Eva is preceded in death by her husband David Torres, two grandchildren and one great grandchild.
