Lynn Lyman Adams 

October 1, 1924 ~ April 2, 2019
Lynn Lyman Adams died April 2, 2019 at the Moab Regional Hospital.
He passed away after a valiant battle with melanoma. He always felt if he could just live a few more years, then he would be ready to move on.
Lynn was born on October 1, 1924 at the home of Walter C. Lyman in Blanding. He is the son of Joseph Adams and Susan Lyman.
He lived at this home with his mother until the age of four. His mother remarried, and they moved to Bluff where they lived for about a year.
He moved with his family to Blanding where he lived and went to school. He graduated from San Juan High School.
He describes himself during those years as somewhat unsupervised and a free spirit. At eight or nine years of age, he would wake before anyone else in the family and get on his horse and ride to the mountain to spend time with his grandfather, Walter C. Lyman, who was mining for gold.
He would sometimes stay two to three weeks before he returned home. Walter C. taught him how to survive in the mountains.
While working for his dad, Joe Adams in Beaver, CO, he received a letter from FDR letting him know he had been selected to volunteer for military service during World War II. He was happy to answer this request.
He was inducted into the Navy in Salt Lake City, UT on September 18, 1943.
This experience helped him to see the world and grow up as a man.
After the war, he met and married Reta L Bailey. They worked together for Joe Adams and Adams Brothers in Beaver, CO in the agricultural business.
Later on, Lynn went to work for the San Juan County Road Department. He spent 28 years with the County, and he retired in December 1987.
In 1992 he lost his wife to a failed heart transplant and always felt the love and support of everyone in San Juan County at this difficult time. For the next 27 years he became more focused on his family, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
Lynn was an avid golfer and volunteered to help build the first nine holes of the golf course in Monticello. He didn’t hit a long ball, but he could chip and putt with the best of them. He gives credit for learning the game to his good friend Eddie Boyle. Golf brought many good friends into his life.
Nothing was more important to Lynn these last 30 years than his family. He was always amazed at the examples that his grandchildren and great-grandchildren set for him.
He is preceded in death by his lovely wife Reta, his mother and dad, and a son, Joseph Michael Adams. His siblings are Margene Standish, Sharon Shumway, Shirley Ensle, Kermit Blake and Curtis Blake, Joyce Martin, LaRee Jensen, Ingrid Adams, John Adams, and David Adams.
He is survived by Bruce (Kristine) Adams and Amber (Ned) Holt and their families.
Funeral services are scheduled for Friday, April 12 at noon at the Monticello Stake Center of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. A viewing will be held prior to the services from 10 to 11:30 a.m. Interment follows at Monticello City Cemetery.
