Loretta Hawkins Bradford

July 3, 1935 ~ April 3, 2014
Loretta Hawkins Bradford was born July 3, 1935, to Philip Lawrence Hawkins and Laura Elizabeth Brown, in Cortez, CO.
She was a very welcome addition to a house full of five older brothers, who thought that, with a sister around, they would no longer have to do the “girl work.”
She also had a younger brother and sister.
As a child, Loretta had several severe illnesses; including Rheumatic Fever, which left her with a  slight heart murmur.
She attended San Juan High School in Blanding, UT, and graduated on May 15, 1953.
She married Bernal Bradford nine days later (May 24, 1953) and they were sealed for time and all eternity in the Manti Utah Temple on May 8, 1980.
They were blessed with six children; four sons and two daughters.
Loretta was a devoted homemaker. She was a loving wife, stay at home mom, grandmother and great-grandmother.
She enjoyed spending time with her family, building puzzles, gardening, dark chocolate and the Utah Jazz.
Loretta was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served faithfully in many callings over the years.
She gained numerous friendships and touched the lives of those she served. Loretta passed away in her home on April 3, 2014, after a three month battle with cancer.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Bernal, three brothers, Ormas, Don and Gordon Hawkins, and her grandson, Jason Bradford.
She is survived by three brothers, Phil, Edwin and Stanley Hawkins, sister Loraine Hawkins, children Michael L. (Denise) Bradford (Blanding, UT), Cindy (Rex) Hoggard (Springfield, UT), Diane Bradford (Blanding, UT), Victor C. Bradford (Lehi, UT), Matthew L. (Sumer) Bradford (Monticello, UT), Clint L. (Jackie) Bradford (Blanding, UT), 25 grandchildren and 25 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held on April 9, 2014 at the Blanding Utah LDS Stake Center.
Interment in the Blanding City Cemetery.
