Richard Logan St. Clair, beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, and uncle, passed away quietly on October 16, 2007 in Fredericksburg, Texas, after a valiant battle with cancer, at the age of 70 years.

Logan is survived by Sally, his wife of 47 years; children Loran of Monticello, Mike (Billie), David, and Greg; brothers M.B. “Sonny” (Judy) and Waymon (Darlene); sisters Barbara (C. Daniel) Zoeller, Carolyn Light, and Cindy (Bo) Whitehead; brother-in-law William Weber; six grandchildren Eric, Trevor, Serra, Kelci, Tyler, and Allison; and many cousins, nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

Logan is pre-deceased by his mother Cleo Belle Yarbrough St. Clair, father M.B. St. Clair, brother Gorman Gale, sisters Alvina Weber and Laurina Langehennig, and daughter-in-law Letha St. Clair.

Logan was born March 10, 1937 in San Saba, Texas to Cleo and M.B. St. Clair. He moved to Fredericksburg in 1942 and graduated from Fredericksburg High School in 1955.

Shortly after graduating, Logan left Texas to travel the world searching for oil as a “doodlebugger” for Geosource (aka Petty Ray Geophysical). Early in these travels, he married Sally Jane Blake in Monticello, Utah on September 3, 1960.

In the following years, Logan and Sally continued traveling with his work as far away as New Zealand, while raising a family of four boys. When the children grew to be school age, they settled back in Fredericksburg while he continued his travels searching for oil in Mexico and in the southeastern U.S.

In 1977, Logan and the family moved to Monticello, Utah, where he mined for uranium, gold, and other minerals in the southeast Utah desert with Sally’s family for several years. He returned to doodlebugging in the Intermountain West for a few years before settling in northeastern Arizona where he and Sally managed a business in Chinle, Arizona and then the Wetherill Inn motel in Kayenta, Arizona.. They retired in 2004 and moved back to his hometown of Fredericksburg.

Memorial contributions may be made in his name to the Lance Armstrong Foundation, the American Cancer Society, or the charity of your choice.

Memorial services were held in Fredericksburg on October 20, 2007.
