January 7, 1909 ~ September 25, 2011
Lloyd Dee Perkins passed on to his next adventure on Sunday, September 25, 2011 in Crescent City, CA.
Lloyd was loved and respected by everyone he met. He was a consummate gentleman to the very end. Lloyd led a very full and active life in his 102 years on this earth.
Lloyd spent most of his years in Santa Barbara and loved to ride horses. At one time, he owned thoroughbreds for horse shows and parades.
He worked as a meat cutter in his young life, followed by 40 years working for a gas company, and a stint in the Navy Seabees after Pearl Harbor.
Lloyd was born January 7, 1909 in Monticello, UT to Daniel and Marguerite Jones Perkins. His mother passed away when he was two years old.
He lived with his Grandmother Jones until, at 16, he left for California to be with his sister Ula and her husband Glenn Wallace. Lloyd lived the remainder of his life in California.
After retirement, Lloyd and his wife, Hazel, traveled for 20 years, coming to the Crescent City, CA area salmon fishing every year. He loved to fish and when his wife of 64 years died, he came here to live.
His wife of 64 years, Hazel preceded him in death. After four lonely years, he met Johanna Mostovoy, and they became companions.
Lloyd always felt that it was very important to have someone to care for, think about and love. He always had a good sense of humor and a bright smile and was always willing to help whenever it was needed.
Lloyd and Johanna had lunch at the Senior Center almost every day. Lloyd contributed to the Senior Center and because of that, his name graces the doorway into the hall.
Lloyd is survived by his companion of many years, Johanna Mostovoy; and his extended family: Phil Mostovoy and Anne Tritchler; Jim and Pam Mostovoy; Ron and Leslie Mostovoy; Jeff, Sarah, Hunter and Teal Mostovoy; Greg, Colton, and Owen Mostovoy; and Alison Mostovoy.
His Perkins survivors include his sister, Norma Perkins Young, and brother, DeMar, and Helen Perkins and many cousins, nieces and nephews.
There will be a Celebration of Life to be held at the Del Norte Senior Center (1765 Northcrest Drive) on Friday, October 7 at 1 p.m.
