Larry Raymond Langford

March 18, 1946 ~ October 27, 2019

Larry Raymond Langford passed away Sunday, October 27, 2019 at his home in Ahwatukee, Phoenix, AZ with family members surrounding him.  

A viewing and funeral services were held Friday, November 1 in Tempe. Interment was Saturday, November 2 in Monticello. 

Larry was born March 18, 1946 to Floyd and Irene Langford; he was one of 10 children. 

He graduated from Tempe High School in 1964 with two letters each in football and basketball and one in track.  

He attended Arizona State University on a football scholarship, starting as offensive tackle his senior year (1967-1968). He graduated with major in education and taught math and science at Marcos de Niza High School for 40 years.  

He earned Masters degrees in Science and Student Driver Education during that tenure. 

He was the Nature Lodge Counselor at Camp Geronimo for many years with the Boy Scouts of America. 

He retired in 2008 and moved to Monticello and lived the life he dreamed of right at the base of the Abajo Mountains. 

He loved hiking, camping, hunting, and ATV riding with the San Juan Safari each year until 2010 when he was diagnosed with Multiple Myeloma Cancer and started the fight against that awful disease. 

He lived through two Stem Cell Transplants; Guillan Barre; two pneumonias, one with respiratory failure; three blood clots in his lower leg; Sepsis; and cellulitis. He fought a strong battle against this disease and fought to the end.

He is survived by his dedicated, loving, and supportive wife, Teverly. They had been sealed together for time and all eternity in the Mesa Temple of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints on September 15, 2006.  

Surviving relatives include siblings Richard, Michael, Leonard, Kathleen, Mayrene, and Darlene; children [(their spouses) and grandchildren] include: Michelle [(Chase), Natalie, Ethan, Hunter, Liam], Michael, and Erik.  Richard [(Diana), Robert], Michael, Tammy [(Juan), Favian], Tonya [(Brian) Brian Jr., Broderick, Braylen, Brach, DJ, Myrie, Jaylin, Triv, Millie, Bronson], Cory, Tarina (Bryce, Tylene, Tierra), Tiffany (Braden). 

Arrangements for the funeral service were provided by Samaritan Funeral Services of Ahwatukee.
