Kim H. Acton

April 27, 1957~August 8, 2008

Our beloved husband, father, brother, uncle and friend, Kim H. Acton, passed away Friday, August 8, 2008.

Kim was born April 27, 1957 to Phil Acton and Zelma B. Acton in Monticello, UT.

He served an LDS mission in the Montana, Billings Mission from 1976 to 1978. Upon returning, he met his sweetheart Debbie Cole and they were married on June 1, 1979.

They were blessed with five children: Eric, Ashley, Tiffany, Cory and Greg.

He is preceded in death by his parents Phil Acton and Zelma B. Acton. He is survived by his wife and children, brothers Phil B. Acton (Dian) in Livermore, CA and Michael G. Acton (Chrishawn) in South Jordan, UT.

Kim loved life and he loved people. He counted anyone and everyone his friend.

He loved football and was proud to belong to the Chain Gang for the San Juan Broncos for several years. Football was his favorite, but he enjoyed every sport and so loved the boys and girls that participated.

He loved the mountains, cooking out, and bugling for elk.

He enjoyed yard work, and spent many evenings and Saturday mornings making the yard beautiful.

Kim enjoyed his Sirius radio. Anytime he was in the car, it was on the 80’s channel. It made those long trips to games the best.

He was a constant force in the lives of his wife and children and supported them in everything they did. They had many great times working together and having fun.

He was so proud of his brothers and loved spending time with them and their families.

He loved his years owning and managing Elk Ridge Restaurant (1980-1998). Every one of his employees were part of our extended family. He enjoyed visiting with patrons – wishing them happy birthday, happy anniversary, or catching up with their lives.

After leaving the restaurant, he worked for a short time delivering bread for his dear friend Verl Packard. Then he went on to work for Sysco Intermountain. He enjoyed this job as well, it allowed him to visit with friends all across San Juan County.

He was grateful to belong to the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

He served in many capacities. Among those were: Nursery leader with his wife, second counselor in the Bishopric, Teacher’s quorum advisor, Bishop, Young Men’s President, and most recently on the High Council and Sunday School Teacher.

His years as Bishop were very rewarding. He loved the Sixth ward and most especially the Youth.

Services were held Wednesday, August 8, 2008. He was laid to rest, immediately following in the Blanding Cemetary. Kim will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.

The Acton family expresses sincere appreciation for the great outpouring of love from everyone that knew Kim.

It was overwhelming and there are not words to express the love and support that we have felt. How grateful we are to live in Blanding and San Juan County.

Thank you for the sincere expressions of sympathy, contributions of food and flowers, and the many other services rendered.

Many of you expressed the desire to convey your sympathy to our missionary.
