Kent Blain Hawkins

July 10, 1963 ~ January 10, 2011
Kent Blain Hawkins was born July 10, 1963 and passed away suddenly from a heart attack January 10, 2011.
He was born to Edwin and Betty Hawkins of Blanding, UT. Kent was born of goodly parents and he treasured his relationship with them. His sister Ann let him stay with the family because he was born on her tenth birthday. His siblings include Ann (Mike) Excell, Mitch, Ed (Julie), and Clark (Ann).
On June 25, 1983, he married his high school sweetheart, Barbara (Barb) Beth Carlson. They became Eternal Sweethearts on August 8, 1990. They have five children; Lacey (Daniel) Vess, Blain, Michael, Matthew, and Maggie; and two grandsons; Ashton Hawkins and Hyrum Vess.
Kent truly loved his family and he worked hard in teaching them that their family is forever. He considered it such a blessing to have baptized all of his family into the church; from his Sweetheart Barb in 1989 and all his children, Maggie being baptized the Saturday prior to his passing.
Kent graduated from San Juan High School 1981. He worked for Ben Black for 22 years and kept people on their toes and always smiling at their pranks. The last five years, Kent was working for San Juan School District as Assistant Director/Shop Foreman. He brought humor to the work place and kept things running smoothly.
He was very involved in Boy Scouts. He believed and lived by the oath. Kent believes it is the key to life. He was fondly known as HAWKMAN and MOUNTAINMAN; he was very dedicated to the scouts. Kent’s family hopes that all the scouts continue to live by the lessons he taught.
Kent served in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in many callings. He did his best with the responsibilities given him. He was currently serving in the Bluff Branch with his family and truly loved every moment spent there
Kent was instrumental in getting the fire station to the state of preparedness it is at today, and he was respected by his firefighters he worked side by side with. The family was so touched by the salute and tribute to him and the last call by his EMS, Rescue and Firefighting friends and the Scouts that joined in that tribute.
He contributed so much to his family, his callings, his work and will be dearly missed. Kent spent his life serving Heavenly Father and now Kent serves with Him. His family looks forward to joining him again.

Words cannot express the strength from the prayers and many acts of kindness and gentle words from everyone, all the help from his EMS friends and staff from the ER at Blue Mountain Hospital, Eagle Air, and University of Utah Medical Center. Thank you, each and every one of you that have been there for us in this time of our loss.
