Joyce Edna Turner

Joyce Edna Turner passed from this earth on Saturday, October 4, 2014.
Joyce was born in Grand Junction, Colo. and spent most of her life in the Monticello, UT, Dove Creek, and Cortez areas. She graduated from Dolores County High School in Dove Creek and completed LPN nurses training in Blanding, UT.
From there she worked as an LPN at San Juan Hospital in Monticello.
Later in her life she worked as clerk at Maverik Store and Walmart.
Joyce was one of four children born to M.C. Turner and Etta Mae (Poff) Turner.
She is preceded in death by her parents, M.C. and Etta Turner; and nephew, Matthew Heil.
Joyce will be lovingly remembered by her daughters Lanna (Mike) Sheldon and Karla (Scott) Knuckles; son Kelly (Bethany) Turner; grandchildren BryAnne (Jeremiah) Goddard, Shelbie Knuckles, Ethan Turner and Noah Turner; great grandchildren Destinee Goddard and Kyler Goddard; brother Melvin Turner; and sisters Virginia Daniels and Marilyn (Kenneth) Heil. She had four nephews and two nieces; and many other relatives and friends.
Joyce loved to attend sports events of her grandchildren (especially Shelbie and her cousins Justin, Kevin, and Jonathan Purkat, who also called her “Grandma Joyce.”)
She was proud of all her grandchildren and great grandchildren. BryAnne was her first grandchild and was a special blessing to her.
Ethan and Noah loved visiting their “Baabow” and their visits were very special to her.
She loved to sing and listen to music. One of her favorite things to do at Madison House was to sing karaoke. She loved all the people at Madison House and they loved and will miss her.
A special thanks goes out to her niece and great niece, Glenda and Aeriel Daniels, who were always there to help “Aunt Joyce” with anything she needed, to everyone at Madison House who helped her, and to the Hospice nurses who were diligent in their care giving. Also, to anyone else who has been instrumental in her care.
Joyce touched the lives of many people with her good humor and wit. She always had a smile and she genuinely loved people and it was reciprocated.
Friends and family gathered to attend her memorial service at The Highway Church of Christ on October 11, 2014.
Donations may be given to Hospice of Montezuma, P.O. Box 740 Cortez, Colo. 81321.
