Jordan Del Shumway March 19, 1964 ~ July 28, 2022

Jordan Del Shumway, 58, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his wife and daughters on July 28, 2022, in Grantsville, UT after suffering a stroke.
Jordan was born on March 19, 1964 in Murray, UT. At three days old he was adopted by Kenny and Chloe Ann Shumway from Blanding. Jordan was adopted by the most wonderful parents anyone could have.
Jordan grew up in Blanding and was always in his dad’s back pocket. As a young child, he learned everything from his dad, and where he went so did Jordan.
Jordan loved his parents so much. He would do anything for them. His fondest memories were lying in bed with them talking for hours, working on the farm, and digging for arrowheads.
Jordan and his siblings believed that the mountain was theirs and theirs only. He once found a small bear in the mountains of Blanding and was able to hand feed him. He feared nothing and loved everything in the mountains.
Jordan loved camping and exploring Elk Ridge Mountain any chance he got. He always enjoyed a big bonfire and loud music, all while cooking Dutch oven dinners for his friends and family. He loved to explore and find treasure on the 4-wheelers.
Jordan married young to Wanda and together they had four beautiful daughters. Mary Ann, Amber, Shianne, and Ashley (Pete).
He was so very proud of all their accomplishments. They moved to Grantsville to work and be close to family. They later divorced.
After settling in the Salt Lake City area, he joined the Operating Engineers Local 3. He was a strong Union member and one of the heavy equipment operators.
He loved talking about all the roads he helped build. He met so many great best friends while working through the operating engineers local 3.
His favorite jobs were working for Kiewit Contracting. He could operate any piece of equipment they put him in.
He helped build I-15 before the Utah Olympics, and Pioneer Crossing in American Fork. His last big job was Geneva Road.
He loved the build with Kiewit in Soda Springs, ID where he worked with his wife Mary. He never really called his work a job. He never complained about work. It was what he loved to do and he felt like it was just another day in the sandbox with his big equipment.
He was the proudest of his grandchildren. He loved that as they started to grow up they would come show off their cars and he even had the chance to watch a grandson run heavy equipment as they re-landscaped his yard.
His heart would beam when they walked in the door, when he watched them play sports, or talked about tools, cars, or one of their next big projects. They all made him the proudest grandpa.
Jordan met the love of his life, Mary Jensen, while working on I-15 over 20 years ago. They fell in love and never looked back. They worked hard and played even harder.
After he found out that he had a form of Muscular Dystrophy (FSHD), he was no longer able to continue to work. He always supported his wife as she continued to work hard and he was no longer able.
Jordan is survived by his wife Mary Shumway; daughters Mary Ann (Jeremy) Anderson, Amber Olson, Shianne (Cody) Erickson, Ashley (Austin) Webb; two bonus children Josie (Eric) Smith and Riley (Alana) Smith; 13 grandsons; two granddaughters; brothers and sisters Charlie Bayles, Tamara (Michael) Butt, Lindsey Shumway, and Wiggins (Jackie) Shumway; and many nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his parents Kenny and Chloe Ann Shumway, grandson Cashton Cole, and nephew Kade Shumway.
For the last 12 years, Jordan has anxiously awaited the meeting with his grandson Cashton Cole Erickson.
Funeral services are at 11 a.m. on Saturday August 6, 2022, at the LDS Stake Center in Blanding, 88 West 800 North. Join a Celebration of Life after the services for a Dutch Oven dinner at Centennial Park in Blanding.
