Johnny Lewis Black, 59 of Dzilth-na-o-dil-hle, passed away May 25, 2010, in Farmington, NM.
He was born to Daniel and Ruth Black on October 3, 1950 in Monticello, UT. He was born to the Notah-Tachii’nii and for the Bit’ahnii clan.
He is survived by his wife, Marie Werito-Black, his children: Tyra Leslie (Ebin) of Polacca, AZ, Brian Joe (Katie), of Kirtland, NM, Shannon Joe (Leander), of Peoria, AZ, Cheri Black-Begay (Bodge) of Bloomfield, NM, “Sonny” (Johnny) Black (Dre), of Dulce, NM, and Marshaun Black (Sheridan, of Dulce, NM. Grandchildren: Amber Naha, Season Black; Dana, Tylar, and Gabriel Tewawina; Kyler & Kyra Joe; Jalen, Kiana, & Devyn Gracia; Lukeise & Kanin Raye; Tylia & Trayo Morgan; Sequoia Begay; Saleisha Black, of Blanding, UT; Sisters Marylou Jones, of Blanding, UT and Arlene (Rodney) Hatch, of Towoac, CO. Foster Family, of Ogden, UT, and various nieces and nephews.
Preceded in death by his father (Daniel Black) and his foster parents, of Ogden, UT.
He proudly served as a Vietnam Veteran with the Marine Corp and served from 1969 – 1970. He worked for Williams WPC-I, Inc., Bloomfield, NM for 29 years. Work with Navajo Police, Navajo Nation Aneth Community Boarding School.
A memorial service was held Saturday, May 29, 2010, at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, 804 Blanco Blvd., Bloomfield, NM promptly at 10 a.m. Burial at the Garden of Freedom at Memory Gardens.
Motorcycle escort from the Church of Latter-day Saints in Bloomfield to Memory Gardens of Farmington. All veterans and non-veterans are invited to ride in memory of Johnny L. Black. A Vietnam Veteran, Branch; Marines.
Was well known, lots of friends in Aneth, Blanding area. Numerous relatives in White Mesa, UT and Towoac, CO and in Monument Valley, Grew up in Blanding area.
