Jeffery “Jeff” Mark Black

May 21, 1951 ~ February 7, 2009

Jeffery (“Jeff”) Mark Black passed away February 7, 2009 after a valiant, short month’s bout with leukemia.

Jeff was born on May 21, 1951 in Monticello, UT to Ardell Palmer Black and Edwin Zemira Black. His youth was spent in Monticello and Blanding, UT.

He graduated from San Juan High School in Blanding and attended Dixie College in St George, UT.

While in college, he met his sweetheart, Jeri Glaus. They were married June 5, 1972 and were sealed in the Laie Hawaii Temple of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints on December 6, 1976.

This loving couple raised four wonderful children: Andrea (Chris) Pearce, Jennifer (Josh) Randall, Rachel (Jake) Alldredge, and Benjamin (Dionna) Black. They blessed their parents with eight beautiful grandchildren.

Jeff worked for many years for Salt Lake County, where he enjoyed detailing the infrastructure of the county, first on maps and then on computers.

He loved and embraced the restored gospel of Jesus Christ.

He loved BYU football and requested burial in LaVell Edwards Stadium. Jeff remembered every joke he heard or read and they were always better by his re-telling.

Jeff is survived by his 96-year-old “Mom” Ardell Palmer (Black) Ostergaard and siblings Palmer (Cynthia) Black, Naida (Clisbee) Black, Tim (Gail) Black, Ted (Lynda) Black and Greg (Ruth) Black.
