Jannett McDonald Black

Jannett McDonald Black beloved wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother, passed away suddenly from complications following surgery on October 19, 2013.
She was born June 12, 1937 to Clara Luella Kinsey and Isaac Calvin McDonald in Heber City, UT. She was the second of nine children.
She graduated from Lincoln High School in Orem, where she had a group of friends she fondly called the “Gang”, the group of them remained lifelong friends.
Jannett met her future husband Paul, a student at Brigham Young University, while she was waitressing at Ford Food locker in Provo.
She married Paul Dean Black on July 27, 1956 in Provo, UT. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Manti Temple.
After Paul’s college graduation in 1957, they moved to Blanding, UT, where her husband joined his father and brothers in a gasoline distribution business.
While living in Blanding, they were blessed with two children, Mark and Michele. In 1972, they moved their family to Monticello, UT, where they lived until 1993 when they moved to St. George, UT to retire near their children and grandchildren.
Some of Jannett’s enjoyments in life were working as a cook at school lunch, traveling with her husband in their RV and spending time with many of their great friends. She also had a love for cooking and for many years cooked Sunday dinners for the whole family.
She was a woman of traditions and made every holiday fun. She loved caring and spending time with her family. Family was the meaning of life for Jannett, she will be greatly missed.
Jannett is survived by her husband Paul Dean Black, of St. George, UT, son Mark Duane (Joleen) Black, of Pukalani, HI, daughter Michele (James) Stewart, of Diamond Valley, UT, eight grandchildren Kristopher, Maegan (Joshua) Barnum, Ashley (Aaron) Heaton, Skylar (Kallie) Stewart, Jennafre (Davis) Anderson, Veronica Black, Valerie (Edmond) O’Donell, Maggie Black, 15 great grandchildren, Treven, Aidan, Chayton, Kyrie, Asher, Elijah, Luke, Beckett, Joaquin, Eloise, Logan, McKinley, Freddie & Eddie and the last one due in December.
She is also survived by brothers Steven (Angie) McDonald and Donald (Rodetta) McDonald of Provo, UT; sisters-in-law Colleen Black of Sandy, UT, Ann (Lloyd) Roper of Payette, ID, and Jessie Black of Meridian, ID; brothers-in-law John Madsen of Orem, UT, and Rex Nielson of Blanding, UT and many nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her parents, her brothers JC, David and Isaac and her sisters Ilene, Diane and Debbie.
Funeral services were October 26, 2013 in St. George, UT.
