Ida May Palmer Hurst

March 18, 1916 ~ April 30, 2012
Ida May Palmer Hurst, age 96 of Payson, UT, passed away Monday, April 30, 2012 at her home.
She was born March 18, 1916 in Moab, UT to Milton Edwin and Nora May Dalton Johnson, the third of 12 children. 
She married Edson Lavell Palmer on December 23, 1933 in Moab, UT.  Their marriage was solemnized on March 13, 1959 in the Manti Temple of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.  He preceded her in death on December 31, 1988.  She married Delores Hurst on December 11, 1990.
Ida received her education in Moab schools.  She loved school and enjoyed performing in plays and musicals.  She started working in 1952, and worked in a variety of restaurants until she was in her 60’s.  She was a dang good cook. 
She enjoyed cooking, reading, and traveling with her husband and other family members in the winter. 
She also loved riding, picnicking, and family reunions in the mountains.  She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served missions in Chicago, and an Indian Mission in San Juan County.  She served as Relief Society and Young Women’s presidents and many other positions.
Survivors include five sons and one daughter, Jay (Lillian), of St. George, UT; Allen, of Spring Lake, UT; Carolyn (Dale), of Payson, UT; Clyde (Sherry), of South Jordan, UT; Wayne (Susan), of Sunset, UT; Gary, of Midvale, UT; many step-children that she considers her family; many grand and great-grandchildren and a brother, John D. Johnson, of Salt Lake City, UT.  After 96 years on this earth, she is preceded in death by many family and friends.
Funeral services were May 4, 2012 in Payson.  Graveside services were at the Blanding, Cemetery on Saturday, May 5, 2012.
