Husie Franklin Cosby “Jr.”

May 4, 1923 ~ February 6, 2012
Jr. Cosby the first born child of Husie and Mae Cosby was born on May 4, 1923 in the small town of Corona, New Mexico.
He lived in Corona until 1941, when at the age of 18, he joined the United States Army.
After getting out of the Military he started driving truck. In the process of trucking he came to Blanding to collect a debt on the sale of a truck, and worked hauling uranium ore.
In 1949, while working in Blanding, he met his sweetheart, Mavis Shumway and they wed on September 1, 1949 in Blanding, UT.
Together they were blessed with five children, Dennis, Kathleen, Tommy, Kay and JoAnne.
On January 27, 1990, he was baptized a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
Due to this special blessing in his life, he was able to be sealed for time and all eternity to his wife and sweetheart Mavis on July 13, 1991.
He continued in the trucking business, starting his own company “H.F. Cosby Trucking.”
Due to his business in trucking and his outgoing personality, he met many people and developed many friendships.
It seemed that about everyplace he went he would know someone or quickly get to know someone. Jr. retired in 2006, at the age of 83. He then turned his business over to his son Dennis and grandson Kedrick. This freed up his time for his “Office” friends who he cared for deeply.
He loved our mother and would let her know this each day. He was always good to his family and helped us when needed. To others he was kind and generous. We are proud to call him our father.
He is preceded in death by his parents, a sister, a brother, sons Tommy and Kay Jim.
A graveside service was held on Feb 6, 2012 at the Blanding Cemetery.
